Atlantic County Office of Emergency Management is researching structural damage to homes as a result of the rainstorm of March 12, 2010, for possible FEMA grant assistance. The Elwood Volunteer Fire Company has been awarded a $52,440 grant from the Federal Assistance to Firefighters program. Elwood plans on using the money to purchase much needed equipment, including airpacks, radios, and an AED. A portion of funding will also be used to provide training for the volunteers. Congratulations to the members of Elwood Volunteer Fire Company who have all worked so diligently to obtain this grant.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is preparing new flood studies and will be performing land surveying. Survey crews will be in and around the area from November 19, through April 30, 2010.
